About Me

Photo of the Artist with her work.

Heer Mandaliya is a multi-disciplinary artist from Mumbai, India, based in Ottawa, Canada. Her work spans across various mediums including painting, sculpture, and Printmaking. With a passion for exploring the intersection of culture and identity, Heer's work often reflects her personal experiences as a South Asian woman living in the West. Heer's artistic style is influenced by Indian folk art and the translation of daily life into visual art forms. Her works represent her personal journey of understanding herself and her surroundings while embracing the fears and vulnerabilities of everyday life, which she portrays in a minimalistic but representational style. Heer's works have been showcased across India and Canada, including her latest group exhibition, "The Play is a Roomy Subject," curated by Celina Jeffery in association with her curatorial class at Gallerie 115, University of Ottawa.

Currently, her works explore themes of displacement and the intensities of memory, nostalgia, and space experienced after moving to Canada through the lens of various diasporic experiences, giving her works a Transnational and cultural perspective.
